USS Idaho Committee – The christening is currently scheduled for
March 2024.
Gregg Smith indicated that members should visit the HAWKBILL website and to join the Facebook and Instagram pages. More visits to the sites will improve overall internet visibility. PayPal and Venmo are now available on the website to allow for electronic donations and dues payments.
New Business
Ross and Scott will contact the Arco Mayor and attend an Arco city council meeting and nominate Ellie Signor as an honorary submariner.
Scott is putting together a plaque order for Arco. Anyone interested contact Scott.
A vote was taken concerning raising the Hawkbill annual dues for 2024 to $20.00, the raise was approved.
Scott discussed it is time to start submitting dues payments for 2024 for both the club and national. Dues for 2024 are $35.00 for National and $10.00 ($@) after January 1st) for the Hawkbill base. Please indicate through a call or Email that you are submitting your payment.
Ross discussed our participation in last year’s Pocatello Veterans Day parade and asked who was interested in participation again this year. The parade is scheduled for November 4th. The float needs to be there at 0830 with the parade starting at 1100. The weather forecast is much warmer than last year with a projected high of 50.
We plan on having a fall 2024 BBQ, a chairman and committee members are needed.
Ross briefly discussed the club member survey that 14 members took in September. More members took the survey this month and we will cover it at the next board member meeting.
Scott will be submitting the annual insurance payment of $25.00 to USSVI national in October.
The Southeast Idaho Homeless Stand Down is Saturday October 28th, 2023, 8-11 AM. They are in need of volunteers to help setup for the event, to help during the event itself, and to help clean up afterwards. During recent events attended by the Hawkbill base members such as Brew at the Zoo it was noted we needed a banner or some other method of identifying who we were. Marty Sattison showed examples of available banners. A motion passed to purchase a banner and table. The purchase of the banner and table will be discussed at the next base board meeting.
Scott reminded everyone to give him an updated E-mail if you are not receiving anything from the Hawkbill secretary.
50-50: $80 won by Don Hulse which he donated to the Hawkbill base and $80 is for the Dolphin Scholarship fund.
