Old Business:

USS Idaho Committee – The christening is currently scheduled for Spring 2024.

Camp Magical Moments –

  1. The moms retreat will be held October 20-22.

Idaho Science Center –Next year a working party needs to go to the museum to clean up and rearrange the exhibits currently displayed in the navy building. Scott is putting together a plaque order for Arco.  Anyone interested contact Scott.

Gregg Smith indicated that members should visit the HAWKBILL website and to join the Facebook and Instagram pages. More visits to the sites will improve overall internet visibility. Paypal and Venmo are now available on the website to allow for electronic donations and dues payments.

Ross and Scott will contact the Arco Mayor and attend an Arco city council meeting and nominate Ellie Signor as an honorary submariner.

New Business

  1. We plan on having a fall 2024 BBQ, a chairman and committee members are needed.
  2. The Santa crawl is scheduled for December 16th.  Our participation includes gathering donated food at the Idaho Brewing Company.
  3. Base dues are currently $10.00 per year.  These dues will increase to $20.00 per year on January 1st.
  4. The base conducted a soup kitchen food drive and raised 24 cases of canned for plus $755.00 to purchase Beef/Bison from Intermountain Packing.
  5. Ross covered the highlights of the recent base member survey.
  6. The Hawkbill base presents Camp Magical Moments with a $200.00 check from our fall 2023 fundraising efforts.
  7. On Thursday November 30th at 7 PM Idaho Public Television will present Idaho’s Nuclear Navy. There will be a lunch with the USS Idaho CO, COB and MM1 to be held at the American Legion Hall located a485 Constitution Way in Idaho Falls from 1200-1300. 
  8. Guest speaker Lori Marvin discussed the efforts of the Blackfoot Elks club in promoting / supporting veterans in Southeast Idaho.

50-50:  $70.00 won by Scott Ullsperger which he donated to the Hawkbill base and $70.00 is for the Dolphin Scholarship fund.

Prayer List

Doug Stutzman’s wife Pauline passed away this Tuesday. Funeral services are being held November 18, Doug has requested nothing from the club, he has family in the area.
