Old Business: 

Gene Summers gave an update on the S1W dismantling. It is ahead of schedule.

The USS IDAHO commissioning committee. A crew visit with the XO, COB and crew members is scheduled for the week of the 4th of July. The recent crew visit in Boise was a success. Ross C. is looking for a coordinator for the upcoming visit as he will be in Alaska for the beginning of it. Please contact Ross if you are interested.

CMM had siblings weekend 17-20 February. The theme was “Game On” and the kids were having a great time.

The Arco Science Center will have volunteers from the city of Arco. They will work with the base to learn how to conduct tours.

Greg and Lisa Smith shared that members should visit the HAWKBILL website and to join the FaceBook pages for the group. Paypal will be available shortly on the website with Venmo to follow.

Champ’s Heart retired 3 of their therapy horses and currently has 3 veterans and 1 deputy taking part in riding. There are also 3 veteran volunteers supporting the riders.

Marty S. and Ross C. talked about the upcoming event at the Idaho Falls Soup Kitchen. It occurs on Saturday March 25th. Marty S. will cook and needs 2 additional volunteers in the morning (8AM) and 8 more people to help serve at 10AM.

Bob Skinner approached the War Bonnet Roundup about possible fundraising for the HAWKBILL base. They did not desire our help. Ross C. is working with the Blackfoot Elk’s lodge to raise funds for the base by providing security at the Idaho State Fair demolition derby.

New Business

Ross C. brought up elections that will occur in April. The positions available are: Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Junior Vice Commander and Secretary Treasurer. Ross brought up some possible names for nominations. Please submit nominations by the next meeting.

Ross C. brought up supporting the Boy Scouts and Doc Berglowe volunteered to be the chairman for all Boy Scout support.

Ross discussed the Submarine Birthday Ball. It is scheduled for 8 April at the Blackfoot Elk’s Lodge. It was voted on to not subsidize the meal this year. Prices will be $35 for prime rib and shrimp and $25 for chicken.

Ralph Van Lieu brought up raising base dues. It was decided to table this discussion for an upcoming meeting.

The Pocatello AMVETs Post 1901 is holding a raffle for two guns. See attached flyer.

The Regional Western Roundup and the National Convention are scheduled and taking reservations.

Don H. recommended that the base purchases subscriptions to American Submariner for the USS Idaho. We are going to find out if they already receive it before we proceed.

Gregg S. stated that Classy Threads in Idaho Falls will put a submarine logo on an item of your choice for $7.50. Please contact Gregg Smith prior to bringing your item in.
