Idaho Eternal Patrol on this day

USS Golet (SS-361) Built in Manitowoc, WI Completing her Second War Patrol was expected to clear her Patrol area on July 5th, and to arrive at Midway Island on 12 or 13 July 1944. However, Golet failed to respond to a message sent on 9 July and was presumed lost by July 26, 1944. Examining Japanese records following its surrender revealed Golet was most likely lost by an anti-submarine attack on 14 June which reported a debris field of cork, rafts and other debris and a heavy pool of oil. All hands were lost including  Arthur Judson Rockwood CS1 of Caldwell, Idaho
