

19 June 1942 SS 132 ran aground off Aleutians (Amchita Island) crew abandoned ship and took refuge in a church, six days later they were spotted by a PBY – no loss of life
12 June 1943 SS 89 the boat left Key West to practice torpedo launching. As boat prepared to dive water flooded in taking SS 89 down. The CO LCDR Edward Shelby was on the Bridge with another officer and three enlisted when the boat dropped out from under them. They survived – 42 killed 5 survived
1 June 1944 SS 233 Herring 83 killed all hands lost. After torpedoing two merchant ships Herring was hit in the conning tower by two rounds from a shore battery on Matsuwa Island.
14 June 1944 SS 361 Golet 82 killed all hands lost. Golet departed Midway on 28 May under command of Lt. James S. Clark and was never heard from again. Japanese records indicate probable cause was an Anti-submarine attack South of Hokkaido and East of Honshu Japan.
18 June 1945 SS 223 Bonefish was ordered on her Eighth War Patrol to rendezvous with USS Tunny SS 282 and USS Skate SS 305 to penetrate the Sea of Japan and sever the last of the Japanese overseas supply lines. Bonefish did not make the last rendezvous prior to departing the Sea of Japan. Records reviewed after the war indicate that Bonefish sunk a cargo ship in Toyama Bay and was subsequently lost during a depth charge counterattack by Japanese escort ships. 85 killed all hands lost by depth charge off Honshu
