All UK Attack Subs Confined to Port

As reported by the Daily Mail all Royal Navy Attack boats are in Port awaiting dry dock and\or repairs. All five Astute-class Attack submarines HMS Astute, Ambush, Artful, Audacious and Anson (pictured) are unavailable for getting underway along with one Trafalgar-class boat. The Daily Mail places blame on the inexperience of the Defense Secretary Grant Schapps along with lack of skill shipyard workers and engineers (largely through retirements or shifting to other jobs). Exacerbating that problem is repairs on the Devonport Dry Dock which will be out of service for another year, and two additional Astute-class boats HMS Agamemnon and Agincourt which remain under construction and will not be completed before 2026. The Royal Navy responded, “We do not comment on submarine operations.” It does beg the question on how all this might impact the proposed AUKUS agreement for Australia, United Kingdom and United States trilateral security pact?
