

Clarence B. Shepherd MM 1- August 16, 1938 died of burns USS Nautilus (SS 168) An “explosion of oil fumes” in engine room as the crew was making engine adjustments. Burns received by Clarence proved fatal; six others in the vicinity were injured, while Nautilus reportedly suffered little damage. Among the six injured was another Idahoan, Arthur G Adams of Emmett, who made a recovery. Shepherd was survived by his wife and three-year-old son in Honolulu. Shepherd was originally from- Bear Lake, Idaho with his family later moving to Nampa.
