Rex Mace Stevens SA was a crew member on USS Runner (SS-275) – which was assigned a patrol area off Northern Japan and departed Midway for that area on May 27, 1943. Runner was never heard from again. Japanese records examined after the War tend to indicate Runner was successful in sinking Seinan Maru on 11 June and was later attacked by Japanese forces as early as 22 June 1943. Official Navy listing as lost was dated in July. Stevens was from Shoshone, Idaho
