  1. Committee/Routine Reports
    1. USS Idaho / OMBUDSMAN – Ross – Commissioning Books. Ross – described the transition from the commissioning committee to a new organization to support the boat.
  • Public Relations/Social Media – Gregg – 22,000 hits to the website and 190 FB followers.
  • Camp Magical Moments – Ross – Culvers, Ammon 15 Oct, Idaho Falls 22 Oct….1100 – 1900
  • Arco Science Center – Atomic Days, Report, next year more camp spaces.  Last full month at Museum
  • Champs Heart update. – Maggie – Champs Heart has received a national award from Senator Risch for their service to the community
  • Joining Forces – Joining Forces/MAC Meetings – Ross/Scott/Steve Sternberg Ross reminded all that there is a Free legal clinic on the 3rd. Wednesday of every month at the veteran’s service center at Idaho State University. They also have a wills clinic twice a year.
  • Float – State Fair Demolition Derby – 12 Sept., Scouting America Stem Day – 26 Sept.
  • Old Business
    • Eternal Patrol Memorial – Submariner Magazine.  Park Bench, New Pavers, Idaho CO Wife letter.
  • Idaho Honor Flight – 4 Hawkbill members traveling, September 1st and 2nd.
  • “Garage Sale” IBC, 19 September. – Gregg Smith – Setup will start at 0800 and the sale will run from 0900 to 1300.
  • New Business
    • Hawkbill – Division of Responsibilities (DOR) – Ross
  • Base BBQ at Freds house after the garage sale starting at 1300 eating starts at 1400.
  • Board Recommendations – Hawkbill Donations. $1000.00 each to:
  1. Idaho Falls Military Affairs Committee
  2. Pocatello Military Affairs Committee – Joint Emergency Assistance Program (JEAP)
  3. Idaho State Veterans Home

A nomination was made and the club voted to donate the funds.

  • Scott reported there will be a tour of the new Reeds dairy building probably on a Saturday in October.
  • Ross and Bob Chapa discussed teaming up to cook the pulled pork for the BBQ

    • Annual Convention, Corpus Christi, Sep 6-11, 2026
  • USSVI Elections End Sept 5th.  Election Buddy email.
  • Jim Pletscher reported that Leon Wolfeson and his wife Robin of Idaho Brewing Co. who are great friends to the Hawkbill base were recognized by the post Register as silver stars (for the second time) which are people over 55 years old who have gone above and beyond in supporting the local community
  • The board has decided to provide yellow Holland Club hats to members of the Holland Club who actively participate/volunteer in club activities.
  • Scott reported that on Sep 18th. at 1715, the American Legion and VFW have an annual POW/MIA Remembrance Day at the veteran’s memorial by the river downtown. This event is poorly attended, and people are encouraged to attend

50/50 Won by Gregg Smith who donated $95.00 to the Hawkbill Base.
