Les Parsons and Jim Pletcher were welcomed into the Holland Club and received their certificates and challenge coins.

  1. Committee/Routine Reports
    1. USS Idaho / OMBUDSMAN – Ross – Commissioning Books
      1. Deployment – Halfway night for the crew Ross reported, he purchased several items on behalf of the club to be included in the ship’s halfway night boxes for the single sailors.
  • Public Relations/Social Media – Gregg reported, Facebook page has 177 followers and has received 20,000 hits.
  • Camp Magical Moments – Ross, Camp June 14th – 20th.  Honorary Submariner Day – 19 June – Lunch Ross reported, the base has raised over 10,000 dollars for Camp Magical Moments (CMM) this year, he also stated that Kenhi Drews and Gregg Beck have donated several hundred of their own money to the camp.
    • New Hawkbill/Challenge Coins have arrived – First sale will be Beer Fest – 75 coins sold Ross reported we collected $1,500 at the beer fest to be split between the base and CMM. The club approved a motion to pay for the challenge coins given to the kids at CMM.
  • Acro Science Center – Atomic Days 17/18 July.  Boise Base.
    • Ceremony for Brass Plaques??? Scott reported he will have all the brass plaques ordered for atomic days.
    • Atomic Days – Social Hour Friday/Dinner out, Morning parade, Brass Plaques, BBQ evening.
  • Champs Heart update. – Maggie
  • Joining Forces – Joining Forces/MAC Meetings – Ross/Scott   Ross recognized Steve Sternberg for volunteering to attend the Pocatello MAC meeting each month.
    • Vietnam Wall – July 9-12, Star Valley Middle School, Afton, WY
  • Old Business
    • Eternal Patrol Memorial – American Submariner Magazine. Ross recognizes Gregg Smith for making the memorial happen. Gregg has obtained permission from the city to place a park bench adjacent to the memorial. A motion was passed to supply $1,500 for the bench.
  • Idaho Honor Flight – 4 Hawkbill members traveling, September 1st and 2nd. Ross reported, 4 base members will be on the first honor flight.
  • Hawkbill Field Trip – INL Treat Facility – Scott reported the next field trip will be to Reeds dairy production facility probably in September.
  • USS Idaho Float.  Float bunting fitted ready for 4 July Parade. Ross reported the float has been requested for display at the demolition derby. This request will be discussed at the next board meeting.
  • “Garage Sale” IBC, 12 September. – Gregg Smith Bring your stuff cluttering up your garage/basement to the sale. Anything that doesn’t sell will be donated and shipped away.
  • Farmer’s Market Booth for July moved to the 11th?
  • Vote in USSVI Elections – Online preferred, Voting starts June 19th, Submariner Magazine.
    • Ross will send link for voting.
  • Flag Setting for Memorial Day – Fantastic support by Hawkbill Base.
  • New Business
    • 4th of July Parade Annual Event, Lunch at the Smith’s – Signup sheet.
    • Gregg reported we received a $500 grant from Silverstar.
    • We have received Hawkbill Base stickers.
  • Good of the Order
