AUKUS Submarines in trouble?

An Australian watchdog group has warned the AUKUS agreement will likely not come to fruition. The agreement of selling three to five Virginia class boats to Australia is dependent upon US shipyards (General Dynamics and Huntington Ingalls) delivering an average of 2.3 boats per year. However, the impact of the COVID pandemic is still affecting various suppliers of parts. The end result is a pace of deliveries dropping to only 1.2 per year over the period of 2020 to 2024.
