Old Business:

USS Idaho Committee – The christening is currently scheduled for Spring 2024.

  1. The Santa crawl was a great success, a total of 700 pounds of food and $70 was raised for a value of $3,600.
  • Idaho Science Center –Next year a working party needs to go to the museum to clean up and rearrange the exhibits currently displayed in the navy building. Scott is putting together a plaque order for Arco.  Anyone interested contact Scott.
  • Gregg Smith indicated that members should visit the HAWKBILL website and to join the Facebook and Instagram pages. More visits to the sites will improve overall internet visibility. Paypal and Venmo are now available on the website to allow for electronic donations and dues payments.
  • Ross and Scott will contact the Arco Mayor and attend an Arco city council meeting and nominate Ellie Signor as an honorary submariner.
  • Ross covered the highlights of the recent base member survey.

New Business

  1. We plan on having a fall 2024 BBQ, Fred Kovach has agreed to head the committee and have the BBQ at his house.  Anyone wanting to work with Fred on the committee is encouraged to volunteer.
  • During the February meeting we will have Shelly Norman from the INL as a guest speaker, all members of Hawkbill base are encouraged to attend the meeting to support Shelly.
  • Ralph Van Lieu has set up a program with Jersey Mikes Subs in Idaho Falls where Camp Magical Moments will receive 10% of the proceeds of sub sandwich sales every Friday during the month of February. Jersey Mikes is located across in Ammon at 2681 E Sunnyside Road Suite E.
  • Ross gave out information concerning joining forces with the County military affairs committees.  These committees can aid veteran in a variety of programs including Legal assistance, Estate planning and more.  Ross will work with Bannock/Bingham counties and Scott will be the point of contact for Bonneville County.
